Environmental Policies
1. Basic environmental philosophy
As a manufacturer of high-quality silicon wafers for semiconductors and solar energy cells, SUMCO has established the following action guidelines and is committed to self-initiated and sustained environmental conservation activities to pass on the irreplaceable natural environment to future generations.
2. Environmental action guidelines
- Through our business activities, we shall pursue activities with an emphasis placed on the following points.
- We shall act to conserve electricity and other energies consumed by our business activities, thereby curbing emissions of greenhouse gases.
- We shall act to conserve electricity and other energies consumed by our production and accessory facilities, thereby curbing emission of greenhouse gases.
- We shall strive to reduce chemical substances used in our business activities.
- We shall thoroughly manage harmful chemical substances and waste, thereby reducing the risks to the environment.
- We shall abide by environment-related laws and regulations, bylaws and other agreed requirements.
- We shall strive to prevent pollution not only in the course of our daily work but also in non-routine work and emergency situations such as accidents, to avoid placing a burden on our local communities.
- We shall establish environmental objectives and targets and strive to achieve them within the scope technologically and economically feasible. We shall also continuously improve the environmental management system by revising the environmental objectives and targets along with the basic environmental policies.
